Romelu Lukaku 'arrested' in Los Angeles as £75million Manchester United target is pulled up for 'disturbing peace'

Romelu Lukaku was 'arrested' by cops in Los Angeles for 'disturbing the peace' at his rented mansion in Beverley Hills, it has been reported.

According to American news outlet TMZ Sports, the striker - who Manchester United have reached a£75million fee to sign from Everton - 'was not brought to the police station or formally booked'. Instead, he was 'merely given a citation'.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 2 when the 24-year-old Belgium international allegedly triggered multiple complaints from nearby residents.Police are said to have been called to the rented property a total of six times where Lukaku was 'told' to keep down the noise.But after allegedly failing to do so, he was arrested by for the misdemeanor of disturbing the peace.

TMZ Sports suggest he was not hauled into the police station, however, and only a citation was issued.

Manchester United, when contacted by Mirror Sport, declined to comment on the matter since the player is not yet registered to them. Everton nor Lukaku have not yet spoken on the reported incident either.The news comes after Manchester United announced they had agreed the terms of his transfer from Everton worth £75million, with £15m in add-ons.

Lukaku will have a medical in Los Angeles where he has been on holiday with his pal and United starPaul Pogba.

He is expected to meet up with his new United team-mates over the weekend and Jose Mourinho and his squad fly out to Los Angeles on Sunday for the start of their US pre-season tour.

Stadium stampede kills 17 in Angola

At least 17 people have been killed with dozens injured following a stampede at a football match in the northern Angolan city of Uige. The Fans were said to have stormed the stadium gates to gain entry to the first division league match between Santa Rita de Cassia and Recreativo do Libolo on Friday, February 10, 2017.

Witnesses said the pressure of the crowd trying to get access into the stadium caused several people to fall. Some of those who fell became trapped and suffocated at the venue.

Speaking to Reuters news agency, the director general of the local hospital, Ernesto Luis, said: 'Some people had to walk on top of other people. There were 76 casualties, of whom 17 died.'

Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, insists that the timing maximises the match’s worldwide audience.

"The game will not be aired in England because of the TV embargo that is placed at that time," Tebas said on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

The 4.15pm kick-off time (in Spain) favours the Asian or American viewers and will be available in over 100 countries, but the UK misses out.

"We had three windows we had considered, at 1pm, 4:15 pm and 6:30pm,” added Tebas. "We analysed those with our audiovisual team and to play at 6pm is too late in Asia while to play at 1pm is too early for the American market."

The fans who hold out until 5.15pm in the UK should be in for a treat, however Gareth Bale will be sidelined for Los Blancos with an ankle injury .

Reigning champions Barcelona, who prevailed home and away in the fixture last season, have been buoyed by the return of talismanic midfielder Andres Iniesta .

Luis Enrique’s men are currently second in the La Liga standings, six points adrift of table toppers Real Madrid.

Plane carrying Brazillian players ran out of fuel before crashing

The plane that crashed in Colombia’s Medellin killing 71 people on board including members of the Brazillian football team, Chapecoense, ran out of fuel moments before it crashed on Tuesday November 29th. This is according to a leaked audio recording of the pilot’s final communications with the control tower.


The pilot was heard repeatedly requesting permission to land, saying that the plane had suffered “total electrical failure, without fuel.”

A co-pilot of an Avianca plane flying nearby at the time also said he overheard the LaMia 933 plane reporting it was out of fuel, calling “mayday” and asking the control tower to direct it to the runway.

Main cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained by Brazilian investigators. Only six of the 77 people on board survived the crash.
